Enough Is Enough

Before any of the songs, there was just this — a text graphic. Enough Is Enough, and then a running list of everything that’s wrong, with those three words hammering back in between each cluster:

This is where the whole project started, back in February. Not as music — I’m not a musician — but as a marketing idea. I’d been staring at MAGA for a long time, thinking about why something that simple works so well, and asking whether there was a way to answer it with something just as simple but pointed the other way.

By the time I sat down to animate this piece, I’d already been through the whole discovery for Old MacDonald — Enough Is Enough, It’s Over spelling out E-I-E-I-O — and I was still planning to make that song. On screen here I kept it to just Enough Is Enough; the It’s Over stayed behind the scenes as the device that would make Old MacDonald work. I was figuring it out as I went and adjusting along the way. The grievance list underneath is the same one that later grew into five songs — you can already see Look Up forming in it. I also designed the protest posters for this piece, and those same posters ended up carrying the first three song videos.

How I made this one (the honest breakdown)

• The idea: mine — the answer to MAGA’s simplicity, and the grievance list underneath it.
• Words: my grievances, my list. I dictate and use Claude to tighten and fact-check, but the calls are mine.
• Design: protest posters I built by hand in a free vector tool — the same posters that went on to carry the first three song videos.
• Animation: built and animated the text graphic myself in Filmora.
• Music: for this repost I had Suno make an ambient track to sit under it, though it came out a little too sparse and felt a bit odd. The original piece was really about the text and the graphics; the actual songs came after it.
